Venables House

This design-forward young family wanted help to bring a stately home to life.  The exterior features a pared-down elegant aesthetic that is unique to the east-side neighbourhood.
The wide open interiors and expansive glazing facing the back yard make the most of the standard lot. While raised ceilings on the second floor enhance the sense of spaciousness on the private level.

Oakridge House

A young family with two young children wanted to build their forever home. The house, inspired after one on the West Side, features cement board shingles and simpler detailing to match a more modest budget. Inside, the soaring open plans cater to their youthful lifestyle.

East Pender Houses

A speculative lot division yielded two narrow homes. The challenge was to maximize the practicality of the home despite its tiny size. The resulting floorplans, though traditional on the front, featured large windows and a Juliet-balcony in the rear to deceptively take focus away from the walls into the expansive views beyond.

Harrison House

A young couple wanted to take advantage of the beautiful east-facing views towards the Fraserview Golf Course. Their mix of traditional and extremely modern tastes combined into this home that featured a simple and quiet design language. The polished concrete interior floors and open tread interior stairs pushes the envelope of what a modern home in a modest shell can be.

East Pender Duplex

A speculative front-and-back duplex designed for the rapidly gentrifying East Pender neighbourhood. The floorplans are straightforward and cleverly arranged to provide an open floorplan main floor ascending into three bedrooms on the top floor. Basement recreation areas expand the available living areas in the diminutive footprints.

Quebec House

A speculative home on a corner lot presented the opportunity to create a house that addresses the wider side street. The vocabulary is a modern Georgian: formal, subtle but confident. The use of cement board shingles allowed us to capture the spirit of a much more expensive design in an economical,  durable and long-lasting finish.

East 51st House

This is a speculative home where the client didn’t want a typical looking floorplan. The response was to create living spaces that were convertible in uses and bedrooms that featured larger than normal closets. A second floor lounge provides even more flexibility in defining the future occupant’s dynamic lifestyle.

Ontario Place House

The homeowner wanted to maximize what the narrow, mid-block lot can accommodate. The resulting house, clad in sealed rock-dashed stucco, fully utilizes all the site’s advantages including a rear-yard compatibility guideline that allowed the home to have a large rear deck off of the main floor kitchen.

Quebec House 2

This home was designed with two dwelling units in mind. The lower suite offers one-floor living while the second floor suite links to an attic-level master bedroom suite and an expansive roof deck showcasing enviable mountain views. The challenge was to create a colourful and graphically-strong house using conventional building methods and simple construction details.

Midlawn House

The homeowners wanted a home to replace their aging 1950s bungalow. With an extended family to accommodate, we created a light-filled basement suite larger than normal Constrained by zoning, we designed a home with a soaring living and dining area and a statement kitchen all facing the remarkable southern views of the rapidly growing Brentwood neighbourhood.
